About Rory

A business perspective on IT

I bring more than 40 years of experience across the LME and energy sectors. My early career covered back-, middle- and front-office roles before I moved into IT, so I approach technology from the perspective of the business it serves.

I have managed global IT operations for multinational organisations, covering day-to-day technology services and change management for trading companies. My experience includes system migrations, office relocations and preparing new sites.

My background spans trading operations, change management, regulatory matters including EMIR and MiFID II, cyber security, private cloud, IT governance, communications technology and risk management.

About TimeZoneTeam

What brings TimeZoneTeam together

TimeZoneTeam started as a consultancy site. It now has room for both hands-on help and useful apps without pretending they are the same service.

What ties it together

The subject can vary. The common thread is making something complicated more understandable, more reliable or easier to use.

Start with the actual problem, not a preferred product.
Keep the scale of the solution proportionate.
Explain decisions in plain English.
Prefer solutions people can maintain after the job is finished.

Room for different kinds of help

The aim is a credible home for practical technical work at different scales: professional consultancy, personal technology help and apps that solve real problems.

Consultancy remains a professional service.
Personal help is presented separately so it does not dilute the business offer.
Apps earn their place by solving a real problem.
New ideas can be added without redefining the whole brand.

Your travel history stays with you.

What the calculator stores

Entered stays and the selected calculation date are saved in local storage in this browser. They are not sent to TimeZoneTeam. Other users of a shared browser may see the saved history.

Use Clear history to remove saved stays. Clear site data in your browser to remove all history and settings. Private browsing and browser cleanup may erase saved history.

Files and website visits

Imported JSON, CSV and text files are read locally. Backups are ordinary data files saved to your device. They contain travel dates, so keep them somewhere appropriate.

There are no third-party scripts or analytics. The hosting provider receives normal web requests, such as your IP address and requested page, when you visit.

Have a problem that might fit?

Describe the problem and the scale of help you want. You do not need to know which service you need before getting in touch.
